New to Cubase. I punched in a midi part and key editor will not open for that event. The key editor will open for both ends of the event but the punched in part will not. The event display is cross hatched for the punched in section. What am I doing wrong?

Most probably a new MIDI Part had been created. This one is probably hidden below the main one.
Click the triangle at the bottom center of the MIDI Part and select the one, you want to see on the top. Or open the Lanes.
That is exactly what it was. I did not think about it created a “track stack” (Logic term). I did not hit stop fast enough.
