Hi All – I purchased, downloaded, and installed Cubase Elements 15, but it won’t launch because I can’t find where to retrieve the license(s?). There was a pop-up at the start of the installation process that said the e-licensing system expired in May 2025, but dismissing it left me with the operational download assistant, which is what I used. Now I have a folder full of files, no license, and my account shows that I have no products. I’m very confused. Also, clicking on the “Contact support” link in the middle of the Support page is programmed to cycle back to the top of the Support page. This is not going well at all.
e-licensing is not a thing anymore.
- Log in or create an account: Open or download the Steinberg Download Assistant and sign in using your Steinberg ID.
- Enter your code: Click the Redeem/Download Access Code button in the top left corner of the Download Assistant and enter the code you received via email.
- Install the software: Find Cubase 15 in the product list, choose Install All, and wait for the setup to finish.
- Launch the activation manager: Open Cubase 15 on your computer. The Steinberg Activation Manager will open automatically.
- Verify and activate: Sign in inside the Activation Manager, locate your Cubase Elements 15 license, and click Activate
The eLicenser is an optional download for people that still need for their software which is activated through that. Steinberg started using the new activation system with Cubase 12.
Thanks, Bruno.
Thanks Glenn.
Many of my issues were satisfactorily addressed quickly by Steinberg Support within a few hours: I had missed crucial information contained in my purchase receipt and was circling around. However, a further issue remains in that, somehow, I registered my purchase with one email address, and the download activation manager with a different one; I can’t find any way to connect them, and my three follow-up requests for a solution haven’t received more than automatic receipt acknowledgements. What can I do?
The email address used for the purchase is not connected to anything.
Relevant is the email account you are using for the Download Assistant, where you enter the Download Access Code. This step connects your purchase with your Steinberg online profile.
After that you can start the Activation Manager, using the same email account and activate the license.
You can also login to your Steinberg online profile and check for your licenses.
Juergen, I understand what you’re saying, but the fact is that the two operations are separated by two different email accounts already established and I find no opportunity to change either one. Should I uninstall/reinstall?

Ok, so I think I understand what you have done.
You have registered your products with two different email accounts and you want them joined into one, correct?
In that case you need to open a support ticket, because only Steinberg can do this, it is the only way to get them together.
Right. I had done that, and got a message that they unfortunately couldn’t help me at that moment. I’ve just gotten a reply though. Thank you for your thoughts and suggestions.
