Putting titles into new flows

Hey everyone,

I’ve added three flows to a new piece I’m working on. In the Flows panel of the Set up Mode I can see the flows and their titles, but the titles don’t appear in the music. How do I get the movement titles of multi-movement work to appear in the score? Thank in advance.

Don

First, you probably need to add the information to the Project Information dialogue.
Each flow can have title/composer/arranger etc.

Then you need to ensure your Page Template (Engrave mode) references the correct flow tokens to show that data in the score.

Or make sure the layout is set to show flow headings. If this project started from the Hub, with the option for containing multiple flows deactivated, then flow headings will be hidden.

For an overview of where titles might appear, see here:

That did it. Thank you Lillie!

Sorry, I spoke too soon. I managed to get one flow title to show, but the others still don’t. I went to Layout Options, Page Setup, Flows, then clicked Show flow headings as For All Flows, but most of them still don’t show. Each flow is named in Set Up , but doesn’t appear in the doc. Any ideas?

Check out the Pages tool in Engrave mode, right panel. Can you see red triangles on the mini pages?

I have triangles on pages 1, 3, and 7. ?

Ah! I clicked them off and the Project and Flow titles appeared. They’re all wrong, but it’s a start.

Right click on one of the miniature Pages, and chose Remove all Page overrides

Please post your project, to avoid multiple guessing posts  and to have instant support/suggestions.

Those are overrides that prevent Dorico from doing its automatic formatting. You should notice how everything is filled accordingly to your needs once you remove those overrides (right-click the Pages tool).
Those overrides are there because you somehow changed something to the page directly instead of changing the page template. Overrides are to be avoided by all means, except if you really know what you are doing.

OK, so I took out the triangles. I have three flows with different names, but only the second name shows up in the score–on all three.

I can get them to read correctly by typing the flow titles directly into the score, but I’m thinking that’s probably not the best way to do it?

That’s how you create overrides

I just figured that out.

Now, all three flows have the same title in the score, but not in Set Up mode.

The flow name you see in Setup mode is {@flowname@} iirc, not the flowtitle. That one has to be filled in in the information window (cmd-i)

Yup, I’ve done that. I have three different flow names in the Info window, but only the middle flow name shows up in the score, on all three.

And you’ve set up the flow headings to show in Layout options >Page setup>Flows per Lillie’s recommendations?

Yes I did.
