Q. Moving dot x vertically - how?

Hello all.

the F# dot x is placed in front of G which is misleading to me.
I was looking for a solution to move that dot x so that it will be placed along the same line of its F# parent but haven’t found such option, there is only an option to change the “Rhythm dot x” horizontally , not vertically.
Any ideas - Thanks in advanced.

Rhythmic dots appear below when the stem is down. So you can create an F# in unison as a dotted quarter in a down-stem voice (you’ll get the dot under the line), hide the stem, and set the duration of your up-stem F# to a quarter note.

Sorry- I don’t understand. what do you mean by unison? I tried to add F# in various down stem vcs , whenever I choose to up stem I get thus bizarre phenomena.

Here is a short demo:

  • Change the value of the existing F# to a regular quarter (undotted)
  • Create a downstem voice (Shift+V) or switch to it (V) if it already exists
  • Enter a F# dotted quarter
  • Play around with the Voice Column index to get the display you want
  • Hide the stem of the down-stem F#
