Hi Cubase Mates .
I want to set up following . but it dont seems to work as i imagine .
I have an Korg NanoKontrol 2 , and already set up the Knobs to my Desire in the Korg Editor .
now i wanna control with the first Knob the Filter Cutoffs of my varius Software Synths .
which are assigned to Modwheel in the Modmatrix Section of the varius Synths . So i set up my first Knob of my NanoKontrol as CC1 ( Modulation) Midi Channel 1 . so far so good
my Destination is to control all the Filter Cutoffs of my various Software Synths simultaneously with only one Knob on My NanKontrol and record accordingly too a Automation Lane in Cubase .
But now i cant set this up in a right way .
i already tried it with Quick Control QC 1 but it focuses only one Vst at the same Time.
so i cant control the Modwheels simultaneously as one with my Knob .
How can i set this up corrctly in Cubase ?
I even did test that in FL Studio , and all i have to do there , is to select the Right Input Port (where my NanoKontrol is set up in the Midi Settings) in the Device/Instruments Wrapper Settings and select the Midi Channel 1 and it just works fine .
But in Cubase it dosent seems to work as easy as in Fl Studio .. because its just focuses the QC on the selected Synth .
can someone help me with that ?
Thanks
If you just want it to record CC1 on multiple channels then you shouldn’t be using quick controls or midi remote. In this case you need to simply set the hardware controller to CC1, record arm the tracks you need and go. Of course your software synths will need to be setup to use mod wheel / cc1 to control the filter, etc.
Quick Controls are not meant for recording CC data per se. They are a dynamic control system to control any kind of parameter, and yes they’re designed to work on the selected tracks parameters. This way you can set up different controls for any instrument.
Hi GPnicolett
as i already mentioned above, i already made the certain Settings in the NanoKontrol Editior of my KorgNano Kontrol 2’s first Knob to control
CC1 (Modulation) and give it the Midi Channel 1 and transfer it to the Controler.
So it always controls CC1 on Midi Channel 1 .
My Problem is now :
how to set it up in Cubase correctly .
that i can tweak the Knob on my Controller and all Cutoff Filters get controlled by this knob and the dedicated Assign to ModWheel in their ModMatrix Section , simultaneously .
All i wannt is , to record is The Movement of my Knob as a Single Automation Lane and all Cutoff-Filters get Closed and Opening simultaneously .So that i just need one single Automation Lane for Cuttof Filter Automation even tweaked by myself on the Hardware Controller .
As i Said in Fl Studio i just have to select the correct Midi Input Port in the
Instrument’s Wrapper Midi Settings and route the Cutoff Filter to the Modwheel in the Modulations Matrix Section . and Just it works .
of course unfortunately Fl Studio can’t record a proper Automation Lane unlike Cubase ,Just the Controller CC directly in a Midi Event .
But in Cubase i know you can record actually a propper Automation Lane when its set up correctly in the Midi CC Settings Window .
But it seems , that i cant control all the Synths Cutoff Filters simultaneously with my NanoKontrol Knob in Cubase and record it ? I really wonder, why this seems to not work in a DAW Like Cubase ? and in Fl it works fine for the Midi Routing via Midi Settings exept you can’t record a proper Automation Lane just a CC Controler Lane in a Midi Event .
Im Sure there must be a Possibility to set this up correctly without the QC or Midi Remote Focusing Stuff ?? with my NanoKontrol or even with my Novation LaunchKey Mini i dont wanna controll Cubase itself . Just my Synths Cutoff Filters simultaneously and record it as a Automation Lane .
