Question about Z key in Project window

The Z key (by itself) has a special function in the project window. If you select a track it will expand this track until it is at its last Zoom level. Once inside this zoom you can change it manually, to becoem as big or small as you would like, tehn the next time you use Z it will return to this setting. This is all good. So far.

However, when I hit the Z function for the second time to escape from the Zooming of the track and, one would have thought, return to the project window as you left it, instead of this, the tracks in the project window have reduced down to minimum height. This stops me using the function as I have to then go and re-adjust every track back to the size I want.

Is there a way to ensure that this second press of Z, in the project windown returns the project window as in the state it was left?

Thank you people

Hi,
you can assign a key to the “Undo Zoom” key command (I hope that’s what it’s called, I am not in the studio right now).
Works great with all sorts of Zoom commands, one of my most used keys.

Thank you. Just set up my Undo Zoom and Redo Zoom to the square brackets, which, amazingly, were unassigned!

Yes, Undo Zoom works really well. I have assigned more of these default Zoom commands plus some customized ones to a keyboard row. I use them a lot so they are all within my fingertips’ reach.
