Question from the new guy!!

I’m using MIDI files with the VST instruments to make backing tracks, then recording guitar parts and vocals into cubase. Everytime I change a VST instrument, like from the default synth section to a solo viola, it changes back to synth section when I replay the song. I’ve been trying things for hours, I can’t get it to stay to the viola! Same thing with the volume levels. I turn down a track, replay the song, and the track is just as loud as before. AND same thing with the effects in the Halion Sonic window. How can I fix this?

Look at your midi the list editor and you will probably see stuff at the start of the track that is setting midi volume, pan, patch etc… select them and delete.
