Is there a setting to force Dorico’s Page Setup in Print Mode to actually be the same as in Layout Options? I set my default Layout Options for US Letter and Dorico’s Page Setup under Print Mode always shows 100mm x 150mm page size. Am I missing something?
I know I can use the System print dialog. Interestingly the System Page Setup dialogue always shows the correct paper size. General Preferences are set to US paper sizes (no option for specific size). Printer default outside of applications is set to US Letter.
Macbook Pro M1 macOS Sequoia 15.1.1 Dorico Pro 5.1.70.2200 (same issue with prior version of Dorico on Sequoia and on previous macOS.)
@dspreadbury In the drop down list, yes, US Letter is selectable. It always defaults to 100x150 mm. I have HP Officejet Pro 8600 and a HP Laserjet 1102. It happens when either are connected as default printer but the Officejet is almost always the default printer. I have no printing issues with any other application.
I guess 100x150mm is a photo paper size – unless I’m much mistaken I don’t think it’s otherwise a standard paper size. Is it possible that the driver for your HP Officejet Pro printer allows you to specify a default paper size? If so, what is it set to?
Really strange. Having just had a close read of the logic used for choosing the default paper size when Dorico sets up a printer, I can only assume that for some reason the paper size returned by your printer when Dorico queries its supported sizes doesn’t match Dorico’s definition of Letter, and consequently it ends up not setting a size, and it ends up choosing 100x150mm because it’s alphabetically first in the list.
We do specify that only an exactly matching size should be returned, and perhaps we need to allow some fuzziness here. We’ll perhaps have a go at changing this and see whether it has any ill effects.
