Question re upgrading from Dorico Pro ver 5 to ver 6

Hi,

I bought the upgrade from Dorico Pro ver 5 to version 6 last December, but I have not installed it yet.

If I follow the installation instructions from Steinberg’s original email of December 7, 2025 (with the supplied download access code), will I automatically be upgraded to the latest Dorico Pro ver 6? Or do I need to follow some other procedure, as it’s been several months since I bought the upgrade?

Thanks,

Kevin J.

Version 6.2 is a free update: thus no problem downloading and installing it from SDA.

Thx for the reply Alberto,

Yes, I realize it’s a free update. So even though the download access code was provided in December (for a previous version of Pro 6) it will still upgrade me to the latest version?

Yes, it will.

Are you using the Download Assistant and signed into your original account/email address? If so, then yes, I think so.

Yes, before attempting the upgrade (I’m currently on ver 5.1.8) I planned to login to my acct and use the most recent Download Assistant.

Thanks to you all for your responses – it appears I’ll be fine by simply following the original December email from Steinberg (containing the original d/l access code).

IIRC An upgrade from D5 to D6 does not overwrite the D5, so your original D5 should continue to work even if you have problems with the D6 install.

This is true; they install into separate folders.

Dear @jazzdrums22 , your license is valid for Dorico 6. Thus you can download and install any version of it: both the public site and SDA have the last version. Enjoy D6.2!
