Question Regarding Line IDs

Sometimes when I am using the library manager to get lines from other files, I get this issue where it thinks two different lines are versions of the same line. I have also noticed that sometimes my default lines will combine with other people’s custom lines when I open their files.

Is there a way to give each line a unique ID?

Here is a cutdown of each file

Dorico Line Files.zip (2.5 MB)

you can see here it has combined my default bar rest line with their aleatoric bottom box line? It has done the same for other lines

Hi @bmoriak, even before using the Library Manager, I can see in your file 1 and file 2 many inconsistencies, between the assigned name, and the name in the “name” field, and also between the name and the actual preview/content of some of the items:

I suggest you go through and review the names and the correct assignations on each file, possibly deactivating the star symbol to remove those items from the user library, first, and resetting some of them. To reassign the name, rewrite it into the “name” field and press ok. Then when there are no inconsistencies, try to use the Library Manager again.

EDIT: here a version of file 1 where I reset, delete and recreate the Aleatoric Box Bottom. (And in both files I deactivated all the stars for the affected items):

File 1-CORRECTED.dorico (923.5 KB)

After doing what I suggested, the Library Manager shows what is expected (I hope I don’t miss something else):
