Hello,
I have a question about MusAnalysis.
In version 2, the accidentals placed next to harmonic functions are automatically displayed as superscripts. I would prefer them in regular type, but this doesn’t seem possible.
I noticed that in version 1.2 of the manual (see screenshot), this was possible. Would it be possible to still access version 1.2?
If so, is there any way to have both versions installed on the same computer, so that I can choose whichever one best fits my needs?
Best,
Francis
Hi Francis, do you need only the flat as a prefatory glyph baseline? Or the sharp and natural also?

Hi Dan,
First, huge thanks for developing this font! I use it several times a week when preparing my course materials, and it’s honestly become an indispensable part of my workflow. It makes everything so much smoother and more enjoyable.
Adding the sharp, flat, and natural signs as prefatory glyphs on the baseline would be a fantastic addition!

Thanks for the kind words. One of the current problems with the font it’s just too big and complicated. It’s become very difficult to make some of these changes: they seem small, but it’s very easy to break other things. And there are so many different scenarios and combinations required that all of the obvious key strokes are already taken with other things. For example, I just made a modification to the font for someone who was asking about the baseline flat, and to do that I had to make it something clumsy like ZZ.
I am actually planning to split this font into multiple ones. One of them would be entirely devoted to RNA. That would simplify things significantly. It would mean some of the modifying key strokes might change slightly. But I see it being the only way to continue improving the font.
What do you think about that approach?

What do you envision including in the non-RomNum version?
Probably one just for functional analysis, maybe one for figured bass. There are already fonts for curcled numbers and letters, so, not sure that one is needed.
I think RNA is by far the most common use case for MusAnalysis. It’s certainly what I designed it for originally, and what I use it for.
I completely understand! I use MusAnalysis only for RNA, so I’m totally fine with the idea of having a separate font just for that.
That being said, if you’re okay with it, I’d love to get the modified version with the baseline flat. “ZZ” works perfectly fine for me for now!
Francis, try typing %s before the flat. It should work. (I have no idea why… lol).

Thanks for the suggestion, Dan! However, I find that the glyph looks a bit too small compared to the others (it seems to be the same size as the superscript one). So I’ll be eagerly waiting for the next update of your font!
This is exactly what I needed! Thank you so much, Dan
