Hi,My question is, can the mod wheel be used as a volume controller and will it write the automation to an instrument track?..thinking of fading strings in and out… 
It does have an actual volume control but don’t know if that is writable to a track…
have not bought it yet and having trouble finding this info about it…

Normally, there should be a way to assign the cc-comand from/ of the mod-wheel to the volume control/fader of any track. first thing is to find out which of the 128 commands is exactly the mod-wheel-command.
So it should be possible then…thanks for your help mate…
Yes the mod wheel is reassignable without having to touch your Cubase setup. Setting it to cc07 will turn it into a volume control.
