Hi,
forgive the vague title, I am not sure about the correct “technical term” for what I am looking for.
I’d like to do something like in the picture below. Please note: There is a Segno before this in bar 6 of the score (not shown) and a “D.S. al fine” in the very last bar (also not shown). Also: There is music after the “Fine” bracket shown in the picture, that should be played, the first time through immediately after the the “To next strain” bracket and wich leads to the “D.S. al fine” on the last page.
The tune has an ABA structure with a short Intro.
I’ve found this question which seems similar but not quite the same. However, I can’t get it to work for me.
Also: Will this playback correctly?

Hey Chris,
Unless there is something overly unique about your ABA form piece, the usual way to do it would be with a D.S. al Coda. That way you can go straight through from the intro, through the “A” section, then the “B” section, D.S. back to “A” and then use the “to Coda” as you would your second ending. However, what you have shown in your image is often seen in pop music. IMHO, it is better to use the traditional D.S./Coda.

To clarify on the “can’t get it to work” part of the question: The bar under the “Fine” bracket is not skipped during the first time of the playback. That is, what I’d like to achieve.

Here is a simplified structure which gives the desired playback sequence:
A D.S. was added at the start of the second ending and a Segno was added at the start of the bar after the second ending. Then both markers were selected and the property Marker index was set to 2. A Fine was added at a different rhythmic position and then moved to the start of the bar after the second ending. If you wish, all three of these added markers can be hidden and the property Custom text can be set in engrave mode to rename the repeat endings To next strain and Fine.
