Quick way to crash Wavelab Elements 10--try to edit cd-text

Just got wavelab elements 10. Updated to 10.0.5. Running in windows 10. Created a montage, went to create cd–says that track, title, and cd-text information is required. Ok… So, go to edit cd-text and wavelab immediately crashes and disappears from screen…

Same quick exit if I double click the cd-text edit box.

Steinberg download assistant just downloaded 10.0.0. I found an update to 10.0.5 on this website, and I see a post in this forum where 10.0.22 is described as the current version–something is not going right here.

When I go to help-check for updates, it takes me to the wavelab 9.5 updates page–again, things are not going well.

went to create cd–says that track, title, and cd-text information is required

Please give more details about your procedure, because I can’t reproduce. Thanks.

I don’t have much detail to add to my earlier description. I created a montage with over 30 tracks and when I try to update the cd-text, the program crashes. When I verify the cd, I get the message that track, title, and cd-text needs to be filled in.

That fact that you can’t reproduce it is unfortunate, as those are the most difficult problems to solve.

Would I be able to install and run wavelab 9.5 to see if that works using my 10 license?

If you have any way of doing debug traces or want to see the montage file let me know.

I suppose getting my money back is out of the question…

I created a montage consisting of a single short sample and went into the cd and was able to open the cd edit box without the program crashing. In the montage that crashes, there are some clip names that are long. Is it possible that the program has a length limitation that it is not checking?

Also, during the creation of the montage, I made a mistake and split a clip in two. I noted that as far as I can tell, there is no way to join two clips that have been split. I deleted one of the clips and then extended the other. My best guess right now is that the montage file has gotten tangled up to the point where the program cannot handle it, but I did nothing but normal operations on it.

Under Windows, you can generate one crash dump from WaveLab if you do so:
While pressing the Alternate key (press first and maintain), select “Global preferences” from the WaveLab menu with the mouse.
In that case, there is a new tab called “Diagnostics”. There you can activate several functions.
Activate the option “Enable crash report”. Quit and relaunch WaveLab.
If a crash happens, one crash dump is generated.

Thanks for your attention. I created the crash report per your procedure and mailed it to the gmail address the bug report generated. It is over 7 meg, so I hope it makes it through the emails systems.

Thanks. I will be absent for 2 days, but I look at it when back.
