Quickest way to change straight eight to tuplets eights

Is it possible to change a bar with eight rests and eights notes fast into tuplets? See example picture below (staff2 is the result).

Not really, I think. As far as I know, it’s not possible to put a tuplet over existing notes without deleting them.
The quickest way I could think of makes sense only when the pitches don’t change, as in your example.

  1. Activate note input and create the first triplet. This will overwrite the first eigth note.
  2. Select the second group (rest and note) and Alt-click on the second rest inside the triplet.
  3. Select the whole triplet group (including the triplet) and hit R repeatedly. This will repeat the selection, but overwrite anything else.

Edit: Come to think of it, my answer is just a complicated version of “write the first triplet and repeat it”…

Thanks for your answer. Your sample works but I think that’s not the way I will do this, then it is faster to write the first triplet and repeat it :slight_smile:

I second that question. The quickest way I found is:

  1. select the first rest
  2. Press ; for the tuplet popover
  3. Put 3:2e
  4. Move the eighth by one

This is slightly more complicated if there are other notes after, but it’s still doable:

Though I feel like that should be easier… A “straight to swing” button could be extremely useful here. (because this is practically what is done here).
