While there is a lot of great hardware being made, MIDI is too old. MIDI is 4 bit and does not carry audio. Roland has developed a new standard for audio and MIDI combined. It has more than 130,000 times the resolution of MIDI. Rainlink is now available in the RD-2000 and software will start to come out for it in 2018. It’s going to be free for other hardware and software companies to use. This is something Steinberg should start looking into.
