Re-analyse audio (when editing project audio files externally)

Hi Everyone

Part of my workflow often involves editing audio files in different projects and exporting (overwriting) files for use in other projects (when taking a stereo mix into 5.1 and Atmos for example). Sometimes I realise something needs to change when mixing the 5.1/Atmos so make the changes in the original stereo session and re-export, being careful to keep the file lengths identical.

Unfortunately this often causes Nuendo to have a meltdown - introducing huge clicks, dropouts, even playing back at the wrong pitch on occasion - even though the source file is absolutely fine. The only solution is to remove the files from the project, clear the pool and re-import. Unless I am missing something?

This has been a problem since I can remember, is there was way for Nuendo to do a ‘re-analyse’ of the pool to put it’s self back in order when this happens?

Thanks

Bruce

As a workaround: Isn’t there still a functionality in Nuendo to set up a master project and have several “client” projects that can push/pull audio to/from it? In other words your main mix project that is 5.1/Atmos would be the master and the project(s) with a stereo source would be the clients. Fix things in the client project, record onto timeline, and then either push that upward or open the master and pull it… “sync” would maybe be the term.

I guess that might not work if you are talking about a million stereo files from various places, but if it’s say one music project that has all the sources I would think it could maybe be done that way.

Just a thought.
