Hi,
In Dorico, you can record a complex rhythm while playing causal notes, and then lock durations and only record the pitches again. This is handy to preserve a natural flow, without having to care for the exact pitches.
I would like to be able to do the opposite: enter a score by typing, and then play ‘human’ durations. Recording over something that as already been entered shouldn’t change the pitch, but it should change the start and end position of the subsequently selected notes.
- Enter a score by typing.
- Enable the Lock Pitch function.
- Select the first note in a passage to be re-recorded.
- Start recording. A one-bar precount will be heard.
- Play the passage again. Do not care too much about the pitches.
- After you play the first note, the second note is selected, and ready to be re-recorded.
In the end, you get the original pitches, but each played note starts and ends at the most recently recorded position.
