RE: Spectral Layers (Standalone?)

A friend of mine used the Score Editor for a period of time. He said it was OK, albeit could not contend against the rival heavyweights.

Cubase 15?

I honestly can’t remember, sorry.

Well, it’s quite a critical detail, because Dorico functionality was added to Cubase 15. I have only tried the score editor in Cubase 13 which is nowhere even close to Dorico Pro 6…I’d say the score editor in Cubase 13 “can produce some results”, yet I found it severely lacking after 6 weeks with Dorico Pro 6 trial.

My next steps are to test Cubase 15 score editor and if that isn’t enough for me, then trial Dorico Elements. I just haven’t been able to put in the time yet.

“…because Dorico functionality was added to Cubase 15”

It was last year some time my friend made the remark, and to be honest I did not pay too close attention because, at the time, I had no intention of investing in Dorico (whichever version was current at the time). I’m sorry I can’t advise further.

I don’t think I even looked at Dorico Elements AFAIR as the sale offer was close to closing.

I’m looking for clarification on your statements, that is all
So the Cubase score editor you spoke of, you do not know which of version Cubase it was; I understand

An educated guess might yield versions 13 or 14, but sadly I can’t say for certain. The conversation was last year and my friend (I’m sure) was always fairly up to date. But, I’ll see if I can text him ask him this evening for you…

No worries, I was only posting as pertains to info for others. I have Cubase 15 and know Dorico 6 Pro well enough.

I think you might should consider that it is your posting which is lacking detail, not necessarily that I’m seeking confirmation of that missing info. It doesn’t really matter to me because I will find out for myself soon enough. That said, your post might mislead someone else searching for such info, hence why I asked for clarification

Oh dear, I did not realise I may have mislead members here. Obviously that was not my intention. I suppose the moderators can remove any such misdemeanors.

Hey, don’t worry…if folks looking for info read our back and forth with me asking you for clarification, I’d say it’s probably fine

it’s a user forum

I appreciate your feedback.
