Realtime record input 4 /4 versus 12 / 8

I’m just experimenting with latency and recording realtime. I don’t seem to able to get a satisfactory result when realtime recording of 12 / 8 as opposed to 4 / 4. Is there a quantise option to select a dotted crotchet as the ‘beat’? If I input realtime record of the same passage in 4 / 4, the rhythmic translation is pretty good, but the same passage realtime recording in 12 /8 looks like an awful translation similar to when importing ‘midi’ files.

Provided you’re playing reasonably accurately, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t be able to get a good transcription in 12/8. If you know you’re not going to be playing anything shorter than eighth notes, then change the settings in Quantize Options accordingly. You can also try using the Requantize feature to try different quantization settings on the music you’ve already recorded.
