I’ve looked everywhere in preferences, and made sure the “Enable Record on Selected MIDI Track” is OFF.
Yet, no matter what, the record button on the one MIDI track I have on this project refuses to turn off, and is constantly recording when I am recording audio.
This to me mean mistake can happen, if say, a MIDI key gets pressed by mistake…
Is this normal Nuendo behavior?
Nuendo 15.0.30, Mac OSX Tahoe 26.6.2 Mac Silicon M2 Pro.
I did exactly as you suggest. The top MIDI track stays armed no matter what I do, when I check the “Enable Record on Selected MIDI Track On” when I select the bottom track and then select the top MIDI track, the bottom track does come out of record. But when I select it again, deselecting the top track, the top track stays in record.
Also, when I press the rec button, on the bottom track it toggles on and off, but on the top one it stays on, only flashing momentarily when pressed.
The behavior stays the same when “Enable Record on Selected MIDI Track On” is toggled off. Top MIDI track stays in record mode, bottom one toggles off and on when pressing the button, but does not go into record when selected.
Fun thing: If I switch the MIDI track order, putting MIDI track 2 above 1, the behavior stays on the TOP track only.
Now for the fun part: When I add two audio tracks, when the “Enable Record on Selected MIDI Track On” and the “Enable Record on Selected Audio Track On”
Then the TOP track, now audio, stays in record no matter what, however ALL the tracks below it now toggle record off and on as expected when “Enable Record on Selected MIDI/Audio Track On” choices are both selected.
In effect, on my DAW, ANY track which is the TOP track is in record mode and will not toggle record off. Whether or not “Enable Record on Selected MIDI / Audio Track On” options are selected or off.
Any ideas as to what may be going on? A hidden setting somewhere?
Also, it looks different now… so maybe over time I was messing with the preferences to where they got corrupted. Note the placement of the track buttons and volume slider as compared to yesterdays’ screenshots. Well, back to work then…
