Received email about trial expiring, but I already purchased a full license

It closes down in 2025, not 2024. I appear to be registered with Steinberg. This was all a lot of unnecessary confusion because of a misdirected e-mail and a licensing system that is supposed to be active through 2024 but actually isn’t.

Yes but as I wrote Dorico 5 doesn’t support eLicensing, the latest version was Dorico 3.5

Ummm . . more confusion. How would I have known that? Again, your post declares loudly that it ends in 2025, not that it ended with Dorico 3.5.

Gary, under these circumstances I would advise you to get a new Activation Code. You will need it to activate your license.
Best would probably be to send a Private Message to @dspreadbury
If you link to this forum thread, you might get help very fast.
He will also be able to tell you, if your license is already active.

This would be the procedure:

  1. Quit Dorico.
  2. Run Steinberg Activation Manager.
  3. For Dorico Pro 5 trial, click Deactivate. You might not need this, as the trial expires by itself.
  4. For Dorico Pro 5, click Activate.
  5. Quit Steinberg Activation Manager.
  6. Run Dorico again.

I am authorized but was led to believe I wasn’t because of a misdirected e-mail. My search to resolve it resulted in finding instructions on the forum to register through the e-licenser which I now learn is obsolete even though published information says it won’t be obsolete until 2025. This whole episode was completely unnecessary. In my Steinberg account there are two instances of Dorico Pro 5. In the dropdown of one it shows activation on two computers. The other shows an expiring trial. I assume the former is evidence that I’m properly authorized. Thank you for your help. I’ve sent an e-mail to Steinberg registering a complaint about the e-mail which led to this waste of our time.

This looks as if it has been sorted out.
At some point you must have input the Activation Code. That’s why it’s working! :grinning:

Well, tomorrow is the expiration date so the trial would have still been OK. But, yes, it’s sorted out.

From another thread:

Moving from the trial version to the full version of Dorico 5 Pro seems to be a bit tricky.
Especially if you use the MakeMusic offer. Indeed, MM appears to issue an installation code, but not an activation code.
I asked technical support about this, and see the attached document for their reply. So it seems that you have to go through Steinberg Download Assistant to activate the purchased version, even if you don’t download anything as the trial version is the same as the purchased version.
I’ve still got a week left with the trial version ; I’ll be able to tell you more once I shall have completed the purchase process via MakeMusic.

Ah mince ! Here a screen capture of this mail from Steinberg.

Translation:
“Thank you for contacting Steinberg Technical Support.
You don’t need to reinstall anything.
Just activate the code in the SDA - Steinberg Download Assistant.
Best regards,”
