Hi All
Firstly Cubase is working fine, no problem there, BUT the recent file list keeps reverting to a long gone set of files. It happens when not shutting down Cubase properly which unfortunately happens occasionally with the power problem here in SA. I then get the usual dialogue asking if I’d like to load the preferences as normal,I say OK and back comes this list of recent files. I have been into the default.xml file where the recent files exist, deleted all the old listings, and it works, recent files list is fine. Then if for some reason I close down wrongly or the power goes, next time I open Cubase ,back comes this list of files from 3 months ago… Any ideas as to why it might be doing this ?Or how to solve it ? It’s irritating rather than serious!!
Best Regards
Dave
Hi,
All the preferences files are stored during Cubase quit. So if Cubase doesn’t quit properly, the preferences (including the Recent Files) are not stored.
When you can get an old list? If there is no defaults.xml file available in the preferences folder, Cubase tries to offer you the preferences of the previous Cubase version. Thanks to this your new Cubase behaves the same as the old one. Cubase goes up to 2 major versions back. So if there is no the defaults.xml file available, Cubase 12 takes the one from Cubase 11, or Cubase 10.5 (if there is no Cubase 11 defaults.xml) or Cubase 10. Therefore you get the list of Recent Files last opened in Cubase 11.
Hi Martin
Thanks for the reply, I knew that Cubase saves the prefs on closing. I deleted all the old preference folders in the “Users/Dave/App Data/Roaming” directory so it only contains the Cubase 12 64 directory, Where else could that list be stored do you think?

Hi,
Sorry, I don’t know, where exactly is this list stored. It’s even not listen at this useful matrix.
