Recommend a graphics card for Cubase 6 and video editing

Hi,

I’m currently using a DAW with a Asus P5B-V motherboard and an Intel dual core E6600 CPU with 4Gb memory. I want to upgrade my configuration early next year but would like to upgrade my graphics card asap because I’ve noticed that’s it’s not really possible to edit HD 1080i videos ATM with programs like Adobe Premiere.

Can you please advise me on what criteria a graphics card has to have to be able to use it for video editing? Maybe this will also improve working with Cubase? Or is my current CPU also too slow for video editing? I’m not an expert on what is best for video editing. :wink:\

As long as you don’t have an intel graphics card you should be allright, the graphics card isn’t used much during video work, it’s mostly CPU work, pure math :slight_smile:

Thanks for your reply! I just checked out the system requirements for Cyberlink Powerdirector which shows an i7 is best for HD video. I will upgrade my system beginning of next year to an i7.
