I am considering buying a keyboard controller to control my software synthesizers. Currently I rely on my Korg Kronos a lot, but its very heavy and since its kind of old, may be unreliable. I may purchase the new Kronos 3, but I am thinking its best to start moving to software synths, and this will allow me to keep the sounds for longer, no need to find equivalents as the devices get old and stop working.
The Native Instrument S88 mkiii also allows for DAWs to be controlled. Specially this feature caught my attention:
Its the ability to control the mix from the keyboard. This will be perfect for me, more than perfect really since I could also control other instruments volumes. I know this works in Cubase, but will it work on VST Live? And if not…. what would it take to make it work?
Is there any other device that could allow for faders control? (while the App adds this someday)
Basically I need transport control too, but I assume this could be programmed/mapped. But visual feedback from the faders, that is another thing.
