Record Automation Loop question

Hi,
When I record automation on a loop, for example a tranpose automation, is it possible to record a new take everytime the loop restarts without it playing back the previous loop?

To clarify, on the first take where there is no existing automation data on Lane 2(Lane 1 is midi notes), I can hear exactly how it sounds when I push my faders during automation recording. But as soon as it restarts the loop and I’m on Lane 3, it starts playing back data from Lane 2 whilst recording Lane 3 and it makes it really difficult to judge what I’m doing.

What I am trying to achieve: To be able to record automation looping multiple times and hear what I’m doing without the previous automation lane data interfering with the current take. After maybe 5-8 takes I would then solo each Lane and pick the best take.

Apologies if this is a noob question, but I’ve tried a combination of modes and the only way to do this would be to pick the option “Only keep last recorded data” but then I would lose all my lanes.

Hi and welcome to the forum,

Sorry, the Automatino Tracks don’t have the Lanes/takes.

Thank you for the reply, I’m using instrument tracks and if you right click the tracks to “show used automation” and click “show lanes”, there are lanes for Midi CC as well as Midi notes.

Hi,

Yes, there are lanes of MIDI data, but not of the Automation Tracks.
