Recording Error: Audio drop out detected

I am experiencing an issue in Nuendo 15.0.30 where recording stops unexpectedly and displays the following error message:

“Recording Error: Audio drop out detected.”

This typically occurs approximately one hour into a recording session, although the timing varies slightly. After I re-enable recording, the same error occurs again after a short period.

The project is based on a clean tracking template with no plug-ins, inserts, or other processing enabled on any tracks, so the issue does not appear to be related to plug-in or DSP load. I have constrained delay setting engaged.

This is a new install on a very stable high-end system.

Any ideas ?

If you are working on Windows, the first question would be whether you have set your power plan to “Ultimate” – and whether you have disabled USB selective suspend in the power settings.

In our case, enabling the Steinberg Audio Power Scheme resolved the issue regardless of whether Windows was configured for the Balanced or High Performance power plan. Based on our observations, there was no measurable difference in performance between the two Windows power settings.

We also found that the results were identical whether USB selective suspend was enabled or disabled. In all tested configurations, the Steinberg Audio Power Scheme consistently resolved the issue.
