Hi there, I need a little help here setting up a GTR recording session.
I’m recording a guitar session via VSt Connect pro 5, the guy other side is using VST performer, and he is using Archtype amp sim in Logic pro.
He set up an audio channel with Archtype Fx on his channel, however, I’m only hearing the clean guitar without the amp sim. He is hearing the amp sim from his side normally but I cannot
The connection setup and everything are ok except i’m getting like it seems a direct signal from his interface without it coming out from his Logic pro session.
We tried using the standalone plugin without the Logic at all but still the same.
anyone help on how to route the signal from his DAW to VST connect performer?
Two options:
- Hardware cabling (only works if the remote end has enough inputs and outputs)
- Audio Routing with 3rd Party Software.
In my Studio I use RME interfaces, so I have comprehensive software routing built in to the drivers (RME TotalMix!). On my MacBook Pro I use a very simple USB interface that doesn’t have such flexibility, so I use Rogue Amoeba Loopback and Audio HiJack to create virtual routing.
There are Windows equivalents for this software, but I don’t know enough to recommend any.
Another option:
Stick with the raw Guitar DI sound ! That would be my preference, and is a very common practice these days. You can work so much more precisely when you’re editing, comping, noise reducing, gating etc. a raw DI signal compared to a harmonically saturated distorted guitar track. Plus, if you wind up wanting to change the character of the guitars later, you have a clean DI to reamp from.
