Recording multiple parts using MIDI keyboard in Dorico SE

Here’s the scenario I’d like to do:

  1. Start with the Piano template.
  2. I’m using my RD2000ES as my midi device.
  3. Record (write) a song.
  4. Add a new player (which I’ve done) and assign an instrument (acoustic bass).
  5. Now I want to record (write) the acoustic bass part from my midi keyboard while listening to the previously written piano part.

I’ve already completed steps 1 through 4. I’m just not sure how to do step 5.

If you select just the bass part and hit MIDI record, the piano part should playback as you record. IF it does not, then something is not set up right.
