Recording Single Notes without MIDI device

How can I record single notes in Cubase Elements 14? I am able to play single notes when I am in the HALion Sonic instrument library, but not record them.

You could use the On-Screen Keyboard, Default shortcut K. It’s in the Studio menu

Thank you. Is there a way to expand the amount of keys like in the HALion Sonic library keyboard?
