Do you make recordings with Cubase itself or do you use an external hardware like Tascam or something else…?
Which is the best option in your opinion?

Cubase is perfect as the recorder but you still need hardware (audio interface) to get the audio in there.

If you need an audio interface, take a look at the Steinberg UR series interfaces such as the UR22mkII:

They have excellent audio quality for the price, and they come with Cubase AI for free. Cubase AI can be upgraded, meaning that it basically acts like a $50 off voucher for any other version of Cubase.
