recordings go out of time

Hi

I have a problem that when I record one track on top of another they are out of time with each other when I play them back. I can’t see the reason as they have been recorded in perfect time with each other. Metronome does not make a difference whether on or off.

Any suggestions?

Do you record a MIDI/Instrument tracks or an Audio tracks?
