Recovering my software after catastrophic drive failure

I lost my 2015 iMac to a power spike and could not retrieve the hard drive. I had a backup that did not include Finale 27 and Dorico Cross grade. I have new iMac with OS 15.1 and installed Finale 27 today [not yet used] and tried to install the Steinberg Download assistant. It will not open. I am unable to download the Dorico Cross grade that I purchased from MakeMusic [finale] on 8/30/2024. Is there any way to move forward with this or is it that I am simply screwed? Thanks in advance for your help.

Welcome to the forum, @wstewart27. Iā€™ve moved your post to a new thread.

Sorry to hear of your hardware failure. Thatā€™s always very frustrating! What happens when you try to run Steinberg Download Assistant on your new Mac? SDA requires Rosetta, so you might need to make sure that Rosetta is installed (that should happen automatically, the first time you try to run or install software that is not yet Universal).

In any case, you can also download everything you need to get Dorico back up and running from our web site here:

Make sure you install Steinberg Library Manager, Steinberg Activation Manager, and Steinberg MediaBay from the top of that page as well as the Dorico application installer and all the sound content.

Dear Dspreadbury,

In answer to your question, "What happens when you try to run Steinberg Download Assistant on your new Mac?ā€, the answer is nothing. When I open my ā€˜force quitā€™ under the apple, it says SDA not responding.
I cannot find how to download Rosetta 2 and when I search my iMac under applications, system, or Library, Rosetta cannot be found. Nor could I find it on the Steinberg site. Perhaps I am misunderstanding you as to how to proceed.
I am not very savvy with computers. I sm a teacher/composer/guitarist. I am not proud of my ignorance and would be happy to learn if there is a patient and willing teacher.

Thank you so much for responding!

I contacted Apple, using my AppleCare and screen sharing. They said Rosetta was installed and that I would have to work with Steinberg [Dorico] as there is nothing wrong with my hardware [the iMac]. Just for clarity, I am using Mac OS Sequoia 15.1 on an iMac 2023, 24-inch with an Apple M3 chip.

Would love to know how to proceed.

Hi @wstewart27, did you try to install Dorico and the suggested components, directly from the link that Daniel courteously gave you in his post ?

Thank you for the courteous prompt, Christian!
I ran out of time last night and will try this after I finish work this afternoon.
Best,
Billy
