in Cubase (13 Pro), I accidentally clicked don’t save, at the end of a really important session. The last backup seems to be from a couple of days ago, even though it’s set to save one every 15 mins up to 10 backups, and there are only 2 in the folder (though they’re labelled 9 and 10 for some reason). Is there any way to get this file back?
Hi,
I’m afraid there is nothing you can do about it - all changes before your last Save command are gone.
Unfortunately, the manual doesn’t explain how Auto Save works in detail. This is one of them.
Here’s an overview that explains in more detail.
HTH for future Auto Saves.
Note what @steve says in the thread that @Reco29 linked to. When you’re working on a project - recording tracks, editing or making other changes, frequently do a manual Save As during the session. Do not rely solely on Autosave, as a failure to save at the end of the session will result in the problem you’re experiencing now.
Good reminder. Although I exlicetly stressed the need for Save Commands in the How To and that Auto Saves merely serve as an additional security net - I should have added that warning right on top in bold. You are right @KT66 , this needs more attention.
Gosh - there’s a lot there - thank you. I’ll go over it. It would be amazing if we could set a backup to be created every time we close a project, even if we don’t save the project…..
Moving on from this, get a mouse with at least a couple of extra programmable buttons and set one of them to Ctrl+S.
And turn auto-save off.
Now we be talking!
