Reduce cut midi event + Bounce (SOLVED )

Dear Steinberg developers, Cubase 14 Pro,

For the sake of all, make it OPTIONAL ,when midi event is shortened by dragging the end + Bounce Midi, it will automatically creates a midi clip WITHOUT greyed out notes and data! ( Similar like its now in Audio event bounce ).

For now cutting midi events to avoid unnecessary data is a timewasting thing.

Hi,

I believe, you are talking about MIDI Parts, not MIDI Events.

There are 2 ways, how to cut the MIDI Parts in Cubase.

  1. You can use the left/right shortening. We call this non-destructive way. So the MIDI data remain and you can extend the MIDI Part later and get the data back.
  2. You can use the Split Tool. We call this destructive way. Then the MIDI data behind the border are gone.

Thanks for responding!

That’s what I mean I need it optional - non destructive way by shortening midi parts . Destructive - by shortening + Bouncing to new clip.

If i deicide to get new clip with Bounce Midi why would i need the old midi data ?
Cutting every single midi is a hell of a job resulting in hand crumps )).

Hi,

This is already possible by using the Split Tool.

You can also go for shortening + MIDI > Freeze MIDI Modifiers (instead of Bouncing).

Ok, would you be so kind to direct me what settings in Midi Modifiers i have to enable in order to shorten the length of midi clip without extra notes ?

Cheers !

Hi,

No settings needed.

Ok , have tried Freeze Midi modifiers but its not doing what i supposed to do when trimming midi clip. Only cutting the solution.

Thanks anyway!

Hi,

Original MIDI Part.

Shorten MIDI Part (you can see, there are notes out of the border, so it was the non-destructive cut).

Freeze MIDI Modifiers

The MIDI Notes out of the MIDI Part’s border are gone.

Am I missing something?

As I said, use the Freeze MIDI Modifiers instead of Bounce after the cut (shorten the MIDI Part), please.
