Reduce track width - panning workflow?

Hi Team.

I am looking for a way to quickly reduce the track width on some stereo track which are routed to a 5.1 bus. This is my current workflow:

Select track
Unfold the ‘Fader’ section in the track inspector
Double click the panning box to open up the Multipanner
Pull down the ‘width’ parameter (which pulls L & R towards centre in both X and Y direction)
Pull up the Y parameter to push it back towards the front again to not bleed into all speakers

Feels quite convoluted for a simple panning move - any thoughts and recommendations are welcome

Alternatively you can leave VST Multipanner always open on another screen and locked to the selected track, so it is always a mouse move away.

And also you can access it directly in the mixer, in the lower zone, just double click it and it opens up. This way you take the first three steps out of the way.

You can also make a MIDI remote map for some controller - for example a tablet with TouchOSC, and leave this funcion always a touch away. VST Multipanner is able to be remotely controlled following track selection.

Thanks for the input.

Leaving it open definitely makes it more convenient but unfortunately it is also a pretty large window and eats up a lot of screen real estate. MIDI map is a good shout and sounds to be the most immediate control and closest to what I’m looking for.

here are the files for the TouchOSC surface I created for controlling VST Multipanner and the json file for the Midiremote mapping in Nuendo

Multipanner.zip (1.2 KB) This is the touchosc file.

TouchOSC_Multipanner_366242923937F68E5E23BF59660B8ACA_globalmappings.zip (1.8 KB) This is the midiremote mapping.

You’ll need TouchOSC installed on a tablet (I believe this surface will load only on TouchOSC v1, I don’t know it the newer version opens it or if you have to convert it or what.

The midi remote map should work right away, but if it doesn’t, check that the mapping ir correctly addressed to the controls.

I hope it helps! Good luck

Ooh, very nice - Thank you for taking the time to share.

Pulling out my old ipad 2 and charging it up… I should still have an old TouchOSC version installed from some 12 years ago…
