Redundant a2 when condensing still doesn't make sense to me

Steinberg and friends,

Currently, I find myself randomly checking/unchecking boxes in condensing, and have as many as 3 condensing flags on a page when trying to eliminate redundant a2 markings.

I’ve reviewed the other posts on this topic and they, to me, seem specific to the musical example in those posts. I’m looking for a more general principle to navigate the fact that a2 will appear after a rest when the manual condensing has two players on “Staff 1 Up-Stem Voice.”

There must be a proper way that I’ve failed to discover on Youtube or this forum.

No need to do condensing changes, you can just hide them in Engrave properties.
(Do a marquee selection and hide the Player Labels property)

Thanks Janus – I have this as an option for sure. However, one of my mistakes in using Finale for years was not learning the “intended” or “right” way to do things. So I am invested in this question to make sure I’m implementing the optimal workflow so less time is spent hiding errant markings throughout large scores.

I think it is generally recognised that Dorico currently produces too many staff labels during condensing. It is still a work in progress!
