What is the best procedure for the following?
I have a completed score/parts file that I’ve added a number of bars to the end (an orchestral postlude). Hence, the last system of every part in my project has the new measures crammed into it. I don’t want to “Reset Layout”, as that will cancel the work I’ve done on the parts in the previous iteration. I just need to “release” the last system of each part and let Dorico reflow them (to use the Finale lingo). After trying all the options under the Engrave menu, I’m still stumped. Any ideas? (This could apply to measures added in the middle of a piece, too, I suppose)
I think there’s a system break with “wait for next” that is not showing here. Can you please make sure that signposts are visible (View > Signposts) and post another screenshot? Or post a cut-down version of your project (maybe just the last 20 bars, one player)?
Sure. When I remove the system break, it just pushes all of the measures to the previous system instead of creating new ones.
Try selecting the system break at m.78, and then in the Properties panel, uncheck “Wait for next system break”. That property is telling Dorico to keep putting measures on the current system until the next system break – and there is no “next” break.
Brilliant! That is exactly the problem. Thank you for your unbelievably prompt response!
I had the same issue with frames, too. Same solution applies
