Reflowing flows

Good evening all…

I’m using Dorico Version 5.1.81.2225 (Jan 16 2025).

I’ve seemingly done something stupid and cannot seem to figure out how to fix it. As most of you know, I write a lot of scale and arpeggio exercises for myself and my students. So, dummy that I am, I started a new set of exercises - scales in 3rds - with just a single treble clef staff in the score. After writing numerous flows, I decided to add a bass clef staff. As you cans see in the attachment, while I managed to get the 1st page to space properly the 2nd through X pages have parts of a flow superimposed upon a previous flow.

My question is this… how do I respace the flows so they are note existing superimposed? I don’t care if a new flow starts on the same page as a previous flow in the score but I do want each flow to be on a separate page in the parts.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts and advice. I’m still learning as I go!

HI @Kerry_Moffit, as always, it is much faster to have a precise answer if you could upload your Dorico file, to see at a glance what is going on.

I suspect you have some kind of override, that stops Dorico from doing its work on the layout:

in Engrave mode, if you see red triangles in the right panel > Pages > pages icons, right click and Remove All Page Overrides (make a copy of your project first).

Then also in Engrave mode, menu Engrave > Staff Spacing > Reset layout.

You can set the Layout Option > New flows: Always start new page/Allow on existing page differently for the score and the part/s:

Removing the page overrides did the trick. There are some other spacing things I’ll have to figure out but for now, I’m in a much better place!

Thanks!

Kerry

You are welcome @Kerry_Moffit.
