I bought the Dorico 5 Pro after a panic when they annouced the end of Finale. Now I can’t get it to launch “Dorico cannot connect to the audio engine. The application will now quit”. I would like a refund and just use Finale until I die.
Don’t panic. There will be a reason. I’m sure the Dorico team will contact you.

Welcome to the forum @atssb , and sorry to hear both about your panic and audio engine problems.
This should be solveable, however, don’t worry!
Open up your Task Manager / Activity Monitor, and search for the VST Audio Engine. Make sure it’s fully quit before restarting Dorico.
(If the VST Audio Engine is already running when Dorico launches, then Dorico can’t do its usual connection process.)

Please attach that here, or send it to me in a private message, and hopefully that will tell us the reason why the audio engine is crashing on your system. We will be able to help you.

Now I am having issues with slow responses and apps freezing. I probably need to remove everything to do with Dorico and just use Finale like I have for decades until I die!
Just hope I can get a refund from Dorico since I can’t even launch it!
I understand your frustration after the past two days of announcements. I promise Dorico isn’t the problem, it’s just something odd going on with your system. Hang in there; there’s a solution.

Although I recall some hassle and confusion when Dorico switched from the dongle/elicenser to the Activation Manager, I have never understood the trouble some folks have had downloading and activating Dorico–although I do not doubt for a minute this occurs given the many computer configurations that exist out there “in the wild.”
I wish for everyone as smooth a conversion process as possible and firmly believe the transition to each version of Dorico is worth it.

Maybe a step-by-step video of the installation process containing all the tools and applications might be in order?

This happened to me sometimes ago, don’t panic! Just keep pressing Shift till it passes the scan. Next time it will lunch like a charm.
In any case, deep respect for such a mythical and heroic declaration of faith!
