Does anybody here know the preference (if any) that professional orchestral string players have regarding parts that are divisi throughout the entire piece (on separate staves). Do they want to see both staves, so they can see what the ‘other half’ is doing, or do they prefer to see only their own staff?
I do realize that the increasing use of electronic notepads for music stands may make this a moot question, but since some orchestras still use paper, I’d like to know. (And I don’t know any professional string players to ask!)
