Creating rehearsal mark “Verse” but showing VerseA. How to remove the “A”?

I don’t think rehearsal marks are meant to mark parts of your piece. You can either add a bar number, number or letter to a text but it will always be there.

However ou can add just verse with a text entry using shift+option+x to enter a global entry like verse. You can make a global text also visible above specific instrument groups by going to layout option>staves and systems and scroll down to “show system-atteched items above”

If your Rehearsal Marks are set to Letters, you can also use the “suffix” trick:

I’m using System Text – as mentioned by @mavros – for that purpose.

  • Create a dedicated paragraph style, it supports even some border styles and can be set to ignore collisions (unlike rehearsal marks).
  • Make it persistent (important) by activating the star.
  • Assign a keyboard shortcut.

The benefit is fully customizable text.
