The key command works for me (Windows 10 Home), with the caveat that if you click on it more than a few times without pause that error message is shown. Which is probably intentional behaviour.
The key command doesn’t work in the Console window only. Can you please check to see if that’s true on windows also?

Same on Windows 10.
Also the Write “w” key command results in a similar message. As does Read if you assign it.
