Hi! As I said in the title, when a wave file already imported in the Pool is moved somewhere else (using Finder, on MacOS), not only that the path in the Pool gets broken, but, upon reloading the cpr file, Cubase won’t say files are missing (!!!).
Record something on an audio track then save the project.
Take a note of what’s shown in the Pool’s path column.
You should have: path+filename.extension
I don’t think moving the file outside the project folder has a good reason, so no. But I used this example so that the issue is easier to reproduce.
What I’d like is to be able to move external files to the “Audio” folder without closing the project. Copying as a result of the “Prepare Archive” command is not an option for me (and shouldn’t be an option for anyone, if I may say so), because it takes time (if the file has a considerable size) and also leaves behind files that the user has to manually delete afterwards.
So this issue persists on Windows? I could check myself, but I’m too lazy right now.
You can add as many files to the audio folder as you like without closing the project. Removal of files that are being referred to by clips and edits is another story. If you want to get rid of unused files you can do so by calling this command in the pool window dialogue. That should be a matter of seconds. However, I am sure you are already aware of this option.
Btw: What is it that you dislike about the Prepare Archive & Backup Project options? Does it really take that long? It shouldn’t unless we are talking about a gazillion files of unseen magnitude. If this is the case it might have something to do with your hardware?
