@jaxtone First of all, I think you should’ve continued in the thread you already started.
When you have an Audio Track, this track has an Input and an Output routing. The input routing is typically set to whatever hardware input from your audio interface you wish to record. The output routing would be the destination channel when playing back the recorded audio. When you create an Audio Track, you are presented with a dialog where you can set these routings as “Audio Inputs” and “Audio Outputs”. Both can later be changed.
If you route the output of an Audio Track to a Group Track and then remove the Group Track, the Audio Track just lost its output destination and needs a new one. Perhaps the Stereo Out bus is a suitable destination in this case?
Changing the output routing of a track can be done in a variety of ways. You can do it from the Inspector of the Project Window, the Channel Settings window or my preferred way, the Mix Console. Using the Mix Console for this task has the benefit of seeing the routing of multiple channels at once. To change output routing from the Mix Console, make sure Routing Rack is enabled. If it is, it should show at the top of the console. When the Routing Rack is expanded, you will see the Input and Output routing of all the channels shown. A Track that was previously routed to a now removed Group Channel, will not show an output destination and needs to get a new one.
Hope this helps.
