When I import an XML I often end up with these x’s over every measure. How do I get rid of them without losing all barlines? I expect that this is caused when the original document had no meters marked.

I would delete them all - and start with a fresh time signature at bar one. Barlines will appear, matching the time signature.
Thanks. I ended up doing it that way. I was hoping for quick ‘n’ easy since every measure is a different time signature, but it kept me busy and out of trouble for about 10 minutes.

If all the measures were empty, on could delete all but the first measure (SHIFT+B 999) and just change the time signature of the remaining measure.
