At one point I was trying out Play and loaded a licensed VST. I’ve moved that license to a different machine. Now when I load Dorico (no score loaded yet) I’m nagged about my ‘missing license’. I can’t figure out where it’s referenced so I can remove it. I’ve tried loading any-old score and groveling through the Play options/templates and no luck.
Thanks!
You’ll need to remove the VST plug-in from your VST folder on your disk, not in Dorico itself. Are you on Windows or Mac?
Duh, that’s a rather straightforward solution! Did the job nicely!
And there’s no need to have licensed VSTs installed without the license anyway. Less cruft on my machine.
… well, I switch licenses often between machines and as annoying as it is, it’s not annoying enough to resort to uninstalling/reinstalling the VST every time I want to transfer the license around.
In my case I inherited a beefy 2 CPU 128g 4t SSD server from a failed startup (beefy by MY standards!). So I’ve moved all my VST instruments there and connect my DAW via Vienna Ensemble Pro. It’s been rather wonderful! So I may as well remove unneed cruft from my DAW machine, especially when it causes me trouble.
