Similar to Finale, I am finding that removing rests to implement aleotoric boxes is causing my bars to dislocate, a similar issue in Finale. Can anyone advise as how I can prevent, as I intend to create a thick line next to the notes in the marimba, after a box is created…
You can try changing the scale of the rests to 1% rather than just removing them. This way, dorico will still take them into account when spacing the music.
Hi Daniel, I need to remove the rests so I can put the thick lines. I do not want the rests to be present…
Try changing them to 1%. If you can still see them then you are super-human. And no cheating by zooming in!
Daniel, I can’t do this, because I only intend to have them hidden on certain bars in the project, not the whole work… The “Remove Rests” under the Edit tabs, sometimes works, and sometimes does not. Why is that?
How come you can’t just scale a few rests rather than all of them?
Sometimes you select rests and this function is not available?
Ok the reducing the rest to 10% worked, and you are right if I was only super human…, but I don’t understand why the simple “Remove Rest” function on Edit sometimes works, and sometimes does not…
If you’d like to attach a couple of bars from your project where this function is not working and we can check it out for you.
If removing the rests empties the bar completely, the Dorico has no way to work out how much space that bar requires.
