Rename Sample in Sampler Track

Is there a way to rename a sample that is already in use in the Sampler track? I’ve tried doing this in the pool and the audio file itself within the project window, but I consistently receive the message “Cubase cannot rename the file”. I feel like there should be an easy way to do this without having to reimport the sample.
Just wanted to know if I’m overlooking this…

from what I can remember it isn’t doable. The sampler track gets the sample from your drive so you shouldn’t be able to rename it because then it would affect other projects and other programs using the same file.

it’s not like the audio files which most the time gets imported/copied into your project folder
