You should create the DefaultLibraryAdditions
folder in /Library/Application Support/Steinberg/Dorico 5
. That’s the folder in the main system-level Library
folder, not in your user-level Library
folder.
You quoted the answer to that part of the issue. You need to create it:
I put fredGUnn’s “1-Bar Repeat Line.doricolib” in the folder as you described, not in the user Library but in the top level Mac/Library/application Support/Steinberg/Dorico 5/
Relaunched Dorico, started new project. The 1-bar repeat line doesn’t show any of the places: Lines panel,
Restarted the Mac then Dorico again: no 1-bar repeat available.
(see attached)
I must be makeing some fundamental mistake, but I can’t see what it is.
Any further help would be appreciated.
Thanks, Bill

After restarting Dorico, you started a new project using File / New? Not using an existing project or from the Hub?
Don’t you want this in the User library (or Mac equivalent), not in the top level library?
Yes, and see the final reply to Jesele’s post.
BTW: I’d still really like to know how to build this 1-bar repeat on my own, just for expanding my Dorico knowledge (still a neophyte).
I could never find the “blank template” option in the Lines Library to be able to start a new line.
I was able to add the repeat symbol to the Line Library (see attached) but that’s as far as I got.
I really appreciate all the help on this forum in this and my many other questions. Your support is way beyond the usual.
Bill
Thanks to all of you for helping with this topic.
At last, success.
Here’s what was wrong.
- I mistakenly labeled the folder to be placed in the Dorico 5 folder as “Additions.” I noticed in Jesele’s screenshot that the folder should be “DefaultLibraryAdditions.”
I corrected that. (Read much, Bill?) - I moved the folder from the top level Library originally suggested by dspreadbury (to be in the top level Mac/Library/application Support/Steinberg/Dorico 5/) into the Macintosh HD/Users/[my macname]/Library/Application Support/Steinberg/Dorico 5/
- Relaunched Dorico
- Started a new project (command-N).
- FredGUnn’s 1-bar repeat appeared in the Lines panel.
Thanks Jesels for the screenshot; that cleared up my folder naming error, and thanks for clarifying where Fred’s doricolib should be located.

Forgot to thank you for this info: you are completely correct. I moved the folder (after correctly naming it) and the 1-bar repeat library worked.
